SUMMARY:16, 17.12 | Workshop “Pavuk”
DESCRIPTION:Let’s spread some Christmas cheer together! Join us for a free “Pavuk” workshop.\nStraw spiders are a beloved tradition among many Slavic, Baltic, and Scandinavian cultures. Both in ancient times and today, they are seen as protective amulets, guarding the home and family from both visible and invisible harm. In Belarus, families would hang a straw spider from their ceiling, where it would spin with every breeze, seemingly alive.\nOn December 16 and 17, artist Hanna will guide us through the process of making straw figures and teach us how to craft our own traditional straw decoration. Hanna speaks Belarusian, Polish, and English, and will explain the technique to each participant in the language of their choice.\nPlease note, the workshop lasts 3 hours and involves working with small pieces. We have 12 spots (and crafting kits) available for adults on each of the two dates.\nWho: Adults (18+) interested in Belarusian traditions\nWhen: December 16 or 17, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM\nWhere: Dialogue Passage, 19 Świdnicka Street (in the underground passage)\nRegistration.\n
